Kona Group Update - Regular Meeting Time and Place!
The first OFFICIAL Kona Women's Circle will meet Tuesday December 8, 2009 (5 - 7 pm) in the Hale Halawai back classroom. These Circle meetings are FREE and open to all the women on the island.

Hamakua Group Continues on Tuesday evenings 6:30
Our Honoka'a and Hamakua area group is going beautifully and we expect it to expand into two after the new year, with the other being a daytime group.
We meet on Tuesday evenings at 6:30, next week at Diane Evans' in Pa'auhau camp.

Letter from a man who staffed a women's "HER" intensive
Joyce,
I just returned from staffing HerWeekend; as you might imagine it was quite an experience for my second rookie position in two months. This workshop was created by women's desire to have a weekend more like the NWTA. There have been 16 such events and is in an ongoing process of development.
Anchored in Archetypes and ritual, there are many similarities to our weekend; a two day schedule from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, a major process on Saturday, and deep connection to feelings and release. There are also many different processes that are more suited to woman's needs. And the BIG difference is that there are men and women on staff. Half of the staff were men and concurrently just about half the staff were committed couples.
To describe the container, the women staff hold the container safe for the participants. The men create an exterior framework creating safety around that interior container. The men had many circles where we confronted our shadows and really kept the energy clean; it’s quite a process.
We men were in essential silence around the participants until SUnday p.m. At that point I connected with a participant and her very first words to me were "I am so happy there were men here for me". So what’s good for the gander may not be good for the goose.
I have heard from a few women who had gone through The Woman WIthin that they were not satisfied having so much lover energy and also wanted a more tribal experience. This probably would have satisfied that need.
The organization took some time off and have now regrouped with a vision to create a broader circle of trainers and geographic area. Many staffers expressed to me a desire to bring this work here and would be willing to fly. My thoughts for the first step would be to have a pod of women go to the next training in June; at least four to have the experience and carry the word as well as being available to staff. [Actually one participant is the wife of a brother on Maui who went through our last training.]... My partner Shakti told me that if she were to go she would want to go with some of the women she is now about to be in circle with.
After these women come back we could then move towards have a training here if there is demand. More info can be found on herweekend.net.

Announcement of First Hilo Gathering!!!! Dec. 16
Our first meeting is scheduled for December 16th at 6:00 - 7:30 pm at my home (see below for address). As I mentioned earlier, I will be happy to facilitate this first meeting. We could also take the time to go over the guidelines that Joyce has provided and decide how our circle would like to proceed. Update on Kona Group
The Kona Group will be meeting at the back classroom at Hale Halawai at 5 - 7 pm tomorrow (Thursday) evening.
Directions to Hale Halawai (from Tina) -
Hale Halawai is downtown on the ocean side of Alii Drive right across from the farmers market parking lot. It's a dark brown building that is kind of older and has that big mural of a ocean scene on one of the walls. People rent the larger auditorium for parties and they have the Ironman Village there. We can park in the farmers market parking lot or, as I mentioned earlier, someone can monitor the gate and let people in as they arrive. I think this might be a little difficult being we don't know how many people will respond from the website.

It was suggested and enthusiastically supported that we have a theme each month, which is used by each group during some aspect of the group gatherings. This will help our regional groups be on the same page and will help deepen our experience when we meet all together in Big Island gatherings.
Hamakua women are voting for four big gatherings per year instead of two! If you know of a big place, which can hold about 100 women, and you'd like to put that together (maybe late January or early February) please let us know! (Comment below! or email Joyce at marvelbenoist@yahoo.com)

First Hamakua Gathering was Wonderful! Consider a confidentiality round....
We had our first gathering in Honoka'a tonight at Dianne Evan's home. What a wonderful, authentic, diverse, comfortable, deep group!
Something that was very meaningful---a suggestion for other groups---
We did a round of each woman holding the talking piece and speaking her commitment to confidentiality and her understanding of it. It was a very deepening, heartfelt exchange and helped build the 'container' of trust.
Next meeting planned for 6:30 Tuesday 17th at Joyce and Joanie's house, 47-4505 Waipio Road (just under 3 miles from the Honoka'a post office, going toward the valley, on the left mauka side; turn at Hale I'O mailbox and go up driveway to big red house. Hint: the driveway is 3 curves in the road AFTER Waipio Wayside B & B-----and it's BEFORE the Hamakua ditch and 5mm) Contact Joyce at marvelbenoist@yahoo.com for directions. (775-1636 if you get lost)
Note: due to the number of interested Hamakua women, there may be another group forming during the daytime.

Anjalisa Aitken asked me to clarify that the first Waimea gathering is a fun beach meeting, but that future groups will be held at her studio in Waimea and will be able holding space for deep sharing---and fun too, of course.

Drive down the long steep hill until you come to the bottom
Make a hard right at the fork on the right.
You will be on Hoomau St - continue to the last house on the left (before you are forced to turn up the hill at the 'end')
Our house is Green with White Trim (kind of hard to see in the dark) with a low rock wall surrounding it.
I'll have the porch light on. The address is 44-704. There's a street sign on the eve of the house that says Ho'oui.
Please park on the pad in the back behind the garage, tight against the rock wall or on the front lawn at an angle.
We need to keep that little 'driveway/street' clear for the nieghbor's access.
If you have a problem, call 775-9512. We'll come and meet you.
